Queen Palms
Palmetto Leaves
The main part of a sculpture is created from the butt end of the fronds or "branches" of Queen Palm Trees. This is the stong fiberous part of the growth that matures and naturally falls to the ground.
Its seed pods, as well as wood, branches, fronds and leaves of other palms and plants are used for accents such as petals, ears, manes, and tusks, etc.

The raw fronds are cut or carved to a desired shape and assembled, sealed with a primer, then painted with acrylics to create the final art. When dry, each piece is coated with polyurethane for protection.
